Cold Briquetting

For cold briquetting at feed material temperatures of up to 100°C it may be necessary to add binders to improve briquette forming characteristics. In this way, coal fines have been briquetted for more than 100 years now.

Binders are primarily used for the briquetting of substances that have inadequate adhesive forces and are thus unable to produce a firm briquette.

Typical briquette sizes range between
1.5 and 250 ccm.

Briquettes may be egg-, cushion-
or rod-shaped.

Briquette characteristics are governed
by the respective application and
process requirements.

The size of a press is defined by the admissible bearing loads. For cold briquetting press types featuring pressing forces of up to approx. 7650 kN are employed.

Several product-related parameters determine the press briquetting capacity:

Moreover, the specific pressing forces to be applied will influence the typical throughput rates of presses as well.

In the lower capacity range standard roller presses are available.

For higher capacities the modular construction principle allows to customize press roller diameter, working width and material feeder to the specific application needs.
