Wilhelm Köppern acquires the factory located since 1836 near the bridge spanning the Ruhr in Hattingen; operation continues under the name of ”Rhd. Berninghaus Nachfolger Wilhelm Köppern”. |

mine with a roller press; the diameter of the rollers was already

Köppern Entwicklungs-GmbH is founded in Hattingen as engineering company dedicated to the development and manufacture of new wear lining concepts.

KAT moves to Freiberg Köppern´s test facilities are transfered to Freiberg and operated in cooperation with the technical university Bergakademie Freiberg. |

Mr. Christopher Schäfer becomes a management partner. Thus the Schäfer family takes responsibility within the company in the 4th generation.
